For a large global organization like BAE Systems, it is not always easy to unite the pockets of excellence to become one company who share the same way of working. In 2023, BAE embarked on a journey to promote an enterprise-wide continuous improvement culture. The ultimate vision is for individuals in our global organization to embrace a continuous improvement way of working as part of their DNA.
In less than 12 months, the global community of practice was born to enable best practice sharing and collaborate to work on priority goals and objectives. The continuous improvement culture for each of our businesses is at different levels of maturity. In the area of benefits realization, our Electronics Systems business stood out as our best of class. They recognized the most compelling case to drive continuous improvement is to ensure that business values are created via continuous improvement activities. But tracking benefits is not always easy, and convincing the finance professionals on the actual benefits realized is even harder. To ensure that our continuous improvements activities are aligned to our strategy, are prioritized according to the forecast business values, and how and when the predicted benefits are realized , we introduced a tool called KPI Fire.
Since June 2023, the KPI Fire has been rolled out to the majority of our businesses and has proven to be a very powerful tool in shifting culture. But as an enabler, it is not the end all, be all. Without a holistic strategy focusing on different aspects, our transformation would not have been successful.
Join this session to tap in to engagement strategies we employed throughout the tool introduction process, barriers we faced, and the impact of benefit realization.
